Tax Policy
DOWNLITE operates several plants and sales offices around the country. Because of these locations, we are required to charge sales tax unless you have the ship-to state's correct sales tax exemption certificate on file.
These are the states we operate in:
- California
- Connecticut
- Georgia
- Indiana
- New York
- North Carolina
- Ohio
- Texas
- Washington
In order to NOT be charged sales tax, we must have the proper paperwork on file by each ship-to state. Please note, some states allow the usage of a multi-state certificate - others do not.
The following PDF links are required to be filled out and emailed back to us. Please note that if you plan to drop-ship, it makes the most sense to fill out the multi-state form which covers all of our sales tax nexus states except IN & NY, which require their own forms. We do not currently have a form for WA, so if you only ship to WA, please send us your resellers permit or the multi-state form.
Once filled out, please be sure to send to wholesale@downlite.com.
Unless you are only shipping to the state you are located in, you are required to have multi-state documentation. As a result, we will have to charge you sales tax unless you provide proper documentation.
